Some customers feed back the conduction of metal dome is not good, ask us what reasons. Mainly six reasons in the following, we also provide the solutions of each.

(1) Factor: contact side of metal domes has dirty;

Solution: clean the dirty, or replace the dirty metal dome.

(2) Factor: the metal domes can’t touch product when pressed;

Solution: Change the height of products or add height of metal domes

(3) Factor: The shape of metal dome is not match with PAD of board;

Solution: Re-design the pad base on the shape of metal dome or change the type of metal dome.

(4) Factor: Maybe have double metal domes;

Solution: find double metal domes and remove one.

(5) Factor: Gold finger of PCB board is oxidized;

Solution: Check PCB and replace.

(6) Factor: Metal domes can’t be pressed down, because of “ear” of EMI metal dome array;

Solution: Change position of “ear” or increase the height of the metal dome.

As we know, the dome array is customized, so you will wonder how we calculate the price of dome array you ask, normally it’s mainly determined by below:

1. The size of dome array sheet, such length and width, can make by laser or need make tooling.
2. How many metal domes on one piece dome array.
3. What surface of metal dome, such gold, nickel or stainless steel.
4. What’s type of PET used.
5. How many pieces can be designed in one sheet? The more the lower cost.

The customer always concern click feeling of metal dome, normal we can make is 50%+/-10%, so if customer wants higher click feeling, how can we improve it?

First, we should know the click feeling is not only relationship with shape of metal dome, force, re-force, stroke, etc., but also with the silicone keypad assembly. Several methods as below:

1. Adjust the force and re-force of metal dome, then increasing click feeling
2. Increase the stroke of metal dome
3. Well-designed silicone buttons with metal domes
4. Assemble metal domes in middle of silicone keypad, the more partial metal domes assembly, the more feeling worse.

What specifications you need to know when you inquiry for a metal dome array

Metal dome array is a kind of glued PET array & sheet that carries metal dome, which will be peeled easy from the released paper and place sticky on circuit boards, as a switch of electronic device.If you ask for a metal dome array,what specification do you need to know:

First,the metal dome parameter(detail please see FAQ What specifications you need to know when you inquiry for a metal dome)

Second,metal dome array size ,you should have CAD drawing for your metal array,or your circuit board instead,then we can design for you.

Do you know how to peel off the dome array from the sheet correctly?

The first way many people think is by hands, but I must tell you please don’t use hands.If you peel off dome array by hands, then you will stain the adhesive on the behind of dome array and have a fingerprint on it, leading to it won’t stick on the printed circuit boards firmly.The right way is to use the forceps or other toolings to peel off the dome array from the release liner, please aslo make sure the circuit boards no stain, dust and dirt.
