Metal domes are mainly installed internally, so be sure to check them before installation to avoid causing trouble in subsequent work. The pressing force of the dome is the main performance of the metal dome during use. So will the strength of the dome change over time? Let me introduce to you what the strength of a metal dome is, and what are the strengths of commonly used metal domes? Let’s take a closer look at the strength of metal domes and the factors that affect the strength.
If you want to know whether the strength of the metal dome will become smaller after long-term use, you must first understand the strength and resilience of the metal dome.
Introduction to metal dome
CP represents compression peak force, we usually use it to define the operation force of metal dome, it means the biggest force you pressed on the dome and make dome from a short opening status to the conductive status. CL means the compression low force, which is also called rebound force. It refers to the biggest force when the dome back from conductive status to opening status. Generally, people use G (gram)or N (Newton force) to define all kinds force concepts.
Effect of Dome Strength
The force of metal dome will relatively reduce along with the pressing times increasing, which we called the phase as the process of force recession. For example, if the initial force is X, and drop to Y after pressing times, then (X-Y)/X is the ratio, force recession ratio as well. When this ratio reaches a certain value, the performance of the metal dome will be affected until a dead key appears. And the force recession is related to its material and produce process.
The amount of force commonly used in metal domes
The following mainly introduces round metal domes, cross-shaped and triangular metal domes. The strength of the metal dome is also related to the diameter of the metal dome. If the diameter of the dome is sufficient, the maximum strength of the dome can reach 200-400g. Please see the table below to understand
As we know that the force of metal domes is also related to the lifetime. Therefore, the magnitude of force still depends on the customer’s requirement. if the customer has no requirements about the lifetime, we can increase the force at discretion as well.
When a metal dome is installed on a product, the strength of the metal dome greatly affects the user’s experience. Therefore, we will design the strength of the dome based on the drawings provided by the customer, and also adjust the strength of the dome based on the actual application. Producing satisfactory products for customers has always been our original intention. Before mass production, we will repeatedly confirm each parameter of the dome, and focus on the quality of the product to ensure customers’ return rate and let customers trust our products.
